The monument called “Equestrian Revolutionary” cast in bronze and five metres high, was erected in the early morning of June 26, 2012 in the municipality of Kisela Voda.

Similarly to the cases with the monuments to Alexander the Great and Philip II, the initial official title concealed the real figure represented. Later, a plaque was added to the memorial, defining that it represented the controversial figure in history, the Ottoman-era revolutionary Todor Aleksandrov.

Under his guidance from 1920 to 1924, the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (Vnatresna Makedonska Revolucionerna Organizacija – VMRO) carried out several actions and assassinations of important figures of the Macedonian revolutionary movement, among them the movement’s outstanding ideologist, Gjorce Petrov. In addition to the murders of these prominent figures, Todor Aleksandrov’s VMRO was most probably involved in the murders of famous Bulgarian politicians, among them the Bulgarian prime minister at the time, Aleksandar Stamboliski.
